STREET ARTIST - PAINTER
Raphael Federici, also known as Paris Sketch Culture, is a contemporary French street artist, painter, and illustrator. Born in 1986, he is recognized for his distinctive blend of street art with classical influences, creating works that often explore themes of human identity, freedom, and exploration.
He often incorporates elements of surrealism, pop culture, and comic art, blending them with traditional portraiture and figure drawing. His use of bold colors and dynamic lines gives his work a vibrant, almost kinetic energy.
Federici's art frequently explores the concept of "explorers of the modern world," depicting figures who embody freedom, adventure, and the quest for meaning in a rapidly changing world. His main character, Sailor, symbolizes the human spirit's desire to explore the unknown.
While he started as a street artist, Federici's work spans various mediums, including murals, canvas paintings, and digital art. He often uses spray paint, acrylics, and ink in his works, allowing him to create both large-scale public art and more intimate pieces.
Federici's work is influenced by a range of sources, from classical art and literature to modern pop culture and urban environments. He often references mythology, history, and contemporary issues, creating a dialogue between the past and the present.
Federici sees art as a means of communication and social engagement. He believes in the power of art to inspire change and often uses his work to address social, environmental, and political issues. His art aims to provoke thought and encourage viewers to consider their place in the world.
In October 2018, I had the privilege of making the film for the now-famous giant Sailor mural on the rooftops of Paris.
